Kit Malo is a stubborn donkey who likes pencil and pen scratches a bit too much. An illustrator active in the Montreal arts scene for some while, Malo's art practice has of late been expanding, however unwillingly.A recently completed degree at Concordia University for Film Animation has been the kick-in-the-ass the donkey needed to get going and work out stuff through other mediums. To push the old horse and cart totally over the edge, Malo has of late been collaborating with other artists on interactive live-action/animation sensor-based installations.
At the same time, Kit has in the last few years begun curatorial work, as the co-producer of Art Pop, Pop Montreal's visual arts festival, as well as through work on one of the city's most integral visual arts blogs, thefrozenmammoth.
An analytical beast by nature, Malo's practice centres around inquisitive and humourous treatments of the "community encounter" and the ways in which subsequent documentation and re-documentation of daily lived events can challenge or confront ideas of reality, truth, and perspective.
